(Bradenton, FL – July 26, 2006) A groundbreaking
ceremony was held Wednesday, July 26 for Braden River
Animal Hospital’s new veterinary clinic on State Road 64
in east Manatee County. Construction of the new facility
is expected to begin as early as this week and will take
six to nine months. Once complete, the new hospital will
be twice the size of the current facility and will
feature state-of-the-art x-ray equipment, a larger
kennel area and six exam rooms.
“Our new digital x-ray equipment allows for greater
diagnostic capabilities by using a computer to enhance
image viewing,” says Dr. Terry Clekis, owner of Braden
River Animal Hospital. “The new technology will help us
target the best treatment for a sick pet.”
On hand to celebrate the groundbreaking was Democratic
county commissioner candidate Sarah Meaker. Meaker, an
animal lover who owns 19-year old cat, Margo, said she
was impressed with the design of the new facility and
happy about what it means for the community. “Manatee
County is expanding at a phenomenal pace,” she said. “As
more families move here with their pets, the need for
veterinary services is increasing and I’m glad to
see Dr. Clekis step up to provide this vital need to the
community.”
As the first ceremonial shovel of dirt was turned, Dr.
Clekis said, “It’s been a long road getting here and I
never could have done it without the support of my
staff, family and friends.”
Braden River Animal Hospital, which specializes in small
animal medicine and surgery, offers a full range of
veterinary services for cats, dogs and other small
companion animals. Clekis bought the existing clinic in
2002 and now serves nearly 6,000 families and their
pets.
“We already offer our clients an online pharmacy, full
pet food product lines and an in-house pet groomer. We
plan to add an additional building with boarding kennels
which will further enhance our reputation as a
full-service resource for local pet owners,” says
Clekis.
