How often should I vaccinate my pet?

  • Vaccinations depend on the age of the pet, your dog should be vaccinated against viral infection from Distemper and Parvo virus four times in the first year of your dog’s life and have an initial vaccination against rabies when your dog is 16 weeks old. Your dog will receive another rabies vaccination during his or her annual exam and once every three years thereafter. Distemper and Parvo Virus vaccinations are given every other year following the initial vaccination period.
  • Cats are vaccinated against Feline Leukemia and Distemper four times in the first year of their lives and rabies at 16 weeks of age. Your cat will receive another rabies vaccination during his or her annual exam and once per year thereafter. Feline Leukemia vaccinations and Distemper vaccinations are given every other year following the initial vaccination period.

Why do I have to give my pet Heartworm prevention?

  • Heartworm disease is deadly that is spread by mosquitoes, however, it is very simple to prevent heartworm disease by giving your pet medication once per month.

Why is laboratory blood testing before surgery so important?

  • Blood work allows us to evaluate your pet’s vital organ systems that metabolize the anesthesia; it also helps us uncover any under lying problems.

Why does my pet need an annual exam?

  • Just like you, your pet needs an annual wellness exam to make sure that your pet stays healthy. This annual exam allows us to practice preventative medicine and lets us catch any diseases in the early stages.

What types of animals do you treat?

  • We treat small companion animals.

What are your office hours?

  • We are open from 8-6 Monday through Friday and from 8-12 on Saturday.

What should I do in case of an emergency?

  • Try to remain calm and call us immediately at 745-1513. If the emergency occurs when our office is closed call the nearest Emergency Clinic.
